It would be really helpful if you documented what class/style you are using for the logo. As is I had to overwrite the logo.

  9. shokrighani says:

    Hi,
Please teach me how to create box around who we are, what we do etc… I can find it. My website is as follow: http://www.topazit.com/v2/.

    • Hi Shokrighani,

Please take a look at http://tny.hk/2n
      View Step 8.
You will find the setup steps

      • shokrighani says:

        Hi Vincent,
        1. I've followed the step in step 8, however I can't achieve what in your demo site i.e. dark background on the title of user1, user2, user3 and user4 position and grey background on the html text box.

        2. Is there any way to set the height of leftnews same as sliding banner i.e. 360px, no matter the size of the text, the box always same height with the banner.

        Thanks in advance
        Shokri Ghani

      • shokrighani says:

        Hi,
I found this code in template.css for frontspot
        .frontspot{height:200px;}
        .clr{background:none!important;}

Is this correct to display the position user1 with dark background?

        Thanks

  10. shokrighani says:

    Hi Vincent,
How to make the title of user1, user2, user3 and user4 look the SAME as Who's Online, Login Form i.e. dark background and grey on the text box. Which css or php file need to edit, please help me.

    ShokriGhani

    • Andy says:

Don't they if you follow the instructions? What do yours look like?
If you do the step with the 'Custum HTML' module in the Setup, and put "(space)frontspot" in the 'Module Class Suffix' if should look the same (?), with the dark grey heading and light grey box. Just remember that space before 'frontspot'. Then the size will match up when you add 4 of them.

  11. Raquel says:

I would like to make a global change in color, from grey to green. Is that possible?

  12. dizpers says:

Hi! Good template! Big thx 4 you! But I'm have the same problem as shokrighani have. I can't do following things:

  13. dizpers says:

So I solve the prvious problems! ( mistake was in the class prefix – I forget to write the " "(the space) ). But I have the last problem – in "Step 9: Cleaning up Your Frontpage". I do all things, described in this step, but articles and menus don't go away from my frontpage! Please help me to solve this problem.

    PS
    Sorry for my bad english:)

  14. JPamplin says:

    DesignerSandbox,

Awesome template! We're trying to get it ready for our site, but the newsflash area sizes itself to the length of the newsflash. How did you keep the length of the grey box fixed at 360 pixels?

    Many thanks, great offering!

    John in Atlanta

    • Hi John,

you will need to put the css in from the module suffix.
Maybe you are missing the space in front of it.
      module leftnews drkgrey
the module are the default, i had added in the leftnews and drkgrey class to it
leftnews are the one that control the height of the newsflash.
Hope this clear things up for you.

      • JPamplin says:

Thanks for the reply – the space in front was the problem. It seems that many people have trouble with that – you may want to really make that space stand out in the directions.

Another question – the vertical space in the main menu area seems a little thick up and down, and pushes the user1-user4 boxes out of the window in a 1024×768 browser window. What CSS elements do I need to change to make that thinner?

        Thanks again!

        John

      • JPamplin says:

        Vincent,

To make the top area thinner, I'm trying to get rid of the top grey bar holding the breadcrumbs and search bar. After I turn off breadcrumbs and search, how can I turn off that bar area in CSS?

Thanks again, this site is turning out well.

        John

        • Hi John,

There's 2 simple step to complete this
first you will need to turn off both module, breadcrumb and search
          Position: breadcrumbs, top (unpublished)
and then open your template.css file and on line 16
within the body class, change the background image position to 0 -31px

          Regards,

          Vincent

          • JPamplin says:

            Vincent,

Yes, that worked! Could I recommend a couple of things?

First, the HTML lists Busuit as the ALT text for the home page logo – you may want to change that to something generic, like "Home" – I found it and changed it on my end.

Second, create a zone above the main menu where the breadcrumbs and/or search could go, in line with the top of the logo, but below the top line that I just got rid of. It would reduce the amount of vertical space that the top menu takes, so that you could fit the banner and user1-4 inside a 1024×768 browser window.

I already tried turning on titles on every article and menu item. I will replace all CSS files with the "virgin" copies and try again.

            Thanks!

            John

  15. JPamplin says:

    Hey everyone,

Great template! I can't see the article title in any article – what have I done wrong?

    Thanks!

  16. Geoff Holman says:

This a great template. Need a little direction with a couple of issues. How do I change the footer text and information relevant to our company? Can't seem to find it in the template. Also, the black box to the left of the slider on the home page does not automatically sized to the same height as the slider box, 360 pixels. If we put the right amount of text in the newsflash, we can make it work. How do we correct this, since each newsflash will have varying amounts of content.

    • JPamplin says:

Be sure to put a space in front of the module class – it screwed me up too.

      Hope that helps,

      JP

  17. marco says:

Hi to all !! great works !! i receive below message in banners module:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /web/htdocs/www.exploratech.biz/home/joomla3/libraries/joomla/html/html/list.php on line 62

Can anyone help me to fix them ?

    Many thx
    Marco

  18. CanDoMeds says:

    Hi folks,

OK, I've created a new persona for my site (I've posted as JPamplin before). Vincent, I've noticed that this template produces quite a few HTML requests (33, to be exact). This is because it has to load each banner, 150K of Joomla JS, and all the HTML/CSS files to show the page. As a result, it's pretty slow.

I tried to use a CSS / HTML Compressor, but they really break the site. Is it possible to move your CSS files into one file in the next revision, or at least get the template working with a compressor tool like CssJsCompress or RokGZipper. Maybe this is just the banner slider screwing up, but it's not possible to turn on any kind of zip or compression tool without the site blowing up.

Any other ideas for speeding up the site?

    Thanks!

    JP

very nice template for small joomla business, i dugg it now

  20. Jackon says:

I genuinely enjoyed going through your weblog threads, and I’ve added you to my Bing reader.

  21. Andy says:

Awesome! Great template, and perfect setup-documents (except for that missing 'space', hehe). Thanks a bunch!

    - Is there any easy way to get the footer to a 100% width? When I change the CSS the main content either gets pushed to the left, or the text moves. Would look clean with it matching the top bg.

    - After changing the height of the user1/2/3/etc, the bottom (footer) doesn't follow. It leaves a blank space between the user-modules and the footer, that just bugs the hell out of me. Hmm?

Anyways, no biggie, it still looks good! Thanks again!

  22. Andy says:

There seems to be some problems with the drkgrey_h3.gif / drkgrey_top.gif files..
Looks like the bottom shadow of the leftnews was suppose to be on the top as well, but something went wrong? images/drkgrey_h3.gif is in the coding, but not in the files. I expect it is the same as drkgrey_top.gif (_bottom reversed), but if I rename it drkgrey_h3.gif, it pops up where it is suppose to be, but it repeats even though the CSS says no-repeat .. Weird! A nice puzzle if anyone is tired of sudoku.

  23. Hi John,
thanks for your idea, our next release of template.
i will be sure to think it more dynamic for the user.
If you are still having trouble with it, you can send me your FTP or backend access.
i will go in and do a quick fix for you.

  24. Andy says:

Might be as easy as another module on the front page that's out of place making if all shift. Something "too big for it's slot".
